How would you like to be able to fix your blue-screened PC that is located several thousand miles away through a few clicks from your KACE Management Appliance? No surprise, we saw overwhelming enthusiasm from our customers when we asked them this question during our recent KACE Konference in San Francisco. Well good news! The KACE Appliances now integrate with Intel® vPro™ technology to help manage and secure clients allowing system administrators to fix remote clients with hardware and startup issues without requiring a desk visit.
Specifically, the KACE K1000 Management Appliance uses software techniques to manage and configure remote clients which require a software management agent to be running on them. If the remote agent cannot be started for some reason then the communication channel to the remote system is lost. This can be caused by multiple conditions like system being switched off, system failing to load network driver etc. In this scenario it is necessary for an IT professional to physically be present in order to rectify the issue.
With the latest version of the Intel vPro technology, the KACE Appliances allow the IT administrator to take full hardware control of the remote client and recover it thereby enabling them to address hardware issues without having to fly out an engineer or have the system shipped in. This helps organizations to save on shipping and travel costs, optimize IT labor costs and resolve issues much faster than ever before.
Interestingly, in an informal survey at Konference we asked customers about their interest in the vPro technology. Several customers mentioned that they are either already using it outside of the KACE Appliance or are very interested in using it. Additionally, many customers were already dabbling with the technology and had a good understanding of the benefits of the technology. They found the announcement very timely and rated the integration very high in terms of capabilities that they liked to see in the KACE Appliance. The verdict was loud and clear! Kustomers loved it, they wanted it and they wanted it NOW!
